Logistics

The art and science of logistics as it relates to a material management system, can trace its origins at least as far back as roman times. Military leaders have known the importance of logistics to achieving a victory on the battlefield. Alexander the Great was one of the most successful military commanders in history. Undefeated in battle, Alexander the Great had a deep appreciation for logistics in battle and the value of the professional logisticians who produced this battlefield enabler. He has been attributed with the saying “My logisticians are a humorless lot…They know if my campaign fails, they are the first ones I will slay. Whether he actually said this or not, is up for debate, but the sentiment emphasizes the importance that logistics played in battle as well as today in business.

Despite its historical and operational importance, logistics and supply chain functions as they relate to a construction material management system are sometimes left to chance or ad hoc planning done by people in the field who are also trying to manage a dozen other activities which can lead to lack of accountability of the material management process, material tracking, material storage, material deployment, and QA/QC. Unfortunately, even though Construction is a major industry across the globe, it still lags behind most every other sector in terms of productivity improvements. In fact, there has been very little improvement since the Second World War and according to a recent MGI Construction Productivity Survey, the sector labor-productivity growth only averaged 1 percent a year over the past two decades. The good news is that there are quite a few things that can be done to dramatically boost productivity, improve revenue and profitability.

ONTRAXSYS has developed a proprietary construction material management system to help with logistics and supply chain services related to construction material management.

Why Ontraxsys

As our name implies, ONTRAXSYS aim is to systematize and simplify material management and logistics for our clients so they can focus on the project and not the parts. In order to do this, we bring together military trained logisticians, advanced manufacturing processes and enabling technology to ensure that clients have the right parts, at the right place and at the right time. According to Merriam Webster, a system is defined as a set of connected things or parts forming a whole. Without anyone of these interconnected things, the system and ultimately the process will fail.

The ONTRAXSYS material management system is built around our people and without question, they are our greatest assets. We start by hiring the finest people in the world, our military veterans with deep experience in logistics and train them in LEAN construction principals, supply chain management strategies, safety procedures and the latest in material management technology. The result is a highly skilled, mission capable and accountable team member that can go anywhere and do anything.

ONTRAXSYS employs a formalized set of material handling processes, procedures and reporting protocols designed to standardize and stabilize the dynamic operational environment associated with construction projects. To eliminate variability from the system and build repeatable and scalable processes, we have brought together best-practices from the construction industry, military, and advanced manufacturing environments to ensure clients have visibility into their material flow. Finally, we enable our processes with state of the art barcode and RFID technologies to improve the visibility and tracking of materials on chaotic job sites and can rapidly design and deploy a system on any project.

ONTRAXSYS has taken the SDVOSB verification process to the highest level possible and undergone the arduous screening conducted by the Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE). The CVE has implemented a stringent system that verified our ownership and matched the collected data to records held at the United States Veterans Administration, IRS, and other data points. As a result, ONTRAXSYS is authorized to display the CVE Certification emblem, which ensures our clients that ONTRAXSYS is a Verified Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.
