Ontraxsys Construction Material Management.

Over the past decade, construction material management has gradually broken away from inclusion of the traditional construction process, and become its own stand-alone service. As a result, large construction projects all over the world are starting to see the benefits in budget savings and on-time project delivery.

The importance of efficient and effective construction material management cannot be overstated as the material used on jobs accounts for nearly 60% to 70% of the of the total cost of the project and scheduling delays in construction caused by late or lost material adversely affect 30% of all projects.

We run across many disorganized job sites with unprotected, improperly stored, improperly inventoried and improperly tracked material which can be extremely disruptive to the planning schedule. On-site construction workers spend a tremendous amount of time trying to locate material for installation. These types of material and asset flow issues, especially when the assets and material must move into and out of laydown yards located on geographically disperse construction sites, create challenges. They slow down the construction process and cause expenses to rise due to higher than planned labor costs and unnecessary repurchasing.

Real-time tracking and expediting of material is absolutely critical; if material cannot be located and accessed when it’s needed, it may as well not be in the laydown yard at all.

ONTRAXSYS can help by deploying RF material tracking technology and proven inventory management processes guided by general principles of laydown yard storage and housekeeping. We will fix economic order quantities, manage inventory stock levels and ensure that material is stored in a manner that will allow it to be easily located for installation; material will be delivered when and how it’s needed so material flow does not cause a stop in the work flow.

Technology is an enabler of our service offering and helps to improve productivity and lower overall project costs. In the right hands, smart onsite construction material management technology can help track, manage and control material in highly dynamic environments resulting in increased productivity due to efficient material management and reduction of lost project inventory.

By leveraging integrated construction material management systems comprised of people, process and technology, ONTRAXSYS will ensure the right material will be available at the right time, allowing the project team to remain focused on the material installation rather than the material flow.

We continually refine our processes in order to improve productivity and efficiency while simultaneously reducing costs for our clients. Our processes are comprised of a combination of best practices from construction, military and advanced manufacturing, and will help in keeping your project “on track.”

3

Partner with the project team to determine the laydown area strategy before materials are ordered. Considerations given for size of area, security, operational movement, storage requirements including weather, and environment.

4

Work with the project team to identify and sequencing of the material to ensure the right material is delivered to the site at the right time.

5

In coordination with vendors, the yard crew will meet and guide the trucks to the unloading location. The material will be inspected to ensure conformance with the Bill of Lading (BOL). The material will then be unloaded, and transported to a pre-identified storage location on the yard. All documentation will be completed.

6

Designed to identify, sequester, and minimize the occurrence of Non-Conforming/ material or material shortages. At the laydown yard, we conduct a 100% inspection of all material within 48hrs of receipt to ensure that the correct quantity and type is received and accounted.

7

Ensures accuracy. As materials are receipted into the yard they are stored in specific locations based on ABC analysis. Item level traceability allows for accurate accounting as it relates to PO fulfillment and on-hand inventory.

8

Team reviews all Engineering documentation to identify every kit variety that is needed. Kit design is a collaborative effort between the Foremen and the Material team. After the kit design has been agreed upon, the Materials Team will build several prototypes prior to mass production.

9

All Material yards will be monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the material yard has been properly closed or all project materials have been exhausted. During operating hours the security present will be Material Team. During Non-Operational hours a security detail will be present conducting roving patrols of the material yard.
